Dr. Joe Kim

Medical Director

Dr. Joe Kim was born in South Korea and immigrated to Canada in 1988. In 1998, he and his family moved to Manitoba where he attended St. Paul’s high school in Winnipeg where he developed his love of the sciences. While working on his Bachelor of Sciences he became the President of the Science Students’ Association in his graduating year.

Prior to his entry into medical school, Dr. Kim moved back to South Korea to pursue his love for the arts and was cast in a Korean television drama. While he was tempted by an offer for an explosive career in acting, Dr. Kim chose to return to Canada to fulfill his dream of becoming a physician. While attending medical school at the University of Manitoba, Dr. Kim found that he loved all aspects of medicine and chose a residency in rural family medicine for the many facets it encompasses. Dr. Kim fell in love with Portage la Prairie during a rotation in medical school and chose to return after graduation. He has built a diverse career in medicine by offering a wide range of services beyond his regular family medicine practice by working in personal care homes and addiction centres among others.

Continuing his pursuit of learning, Dr. Kim began his journey in medical aesthetics in 2018 and is thrilled to be the medical director at Apex Aesthetics. His objective is to connect with people, listen to their goals and come up with an individualized plan that helps them achieve optimal results in a safe and caring environment.
